A fatal accident occurred on Tuesday morning along the federal Mérida–Cancún Highway, leaving one person dead and three others seriously injured. The incident took place while a road maintenance crew was removing traffic signs.
The crash happened near kilometer 185, when a tractor-trailer traveling toward Cancún collided with a Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck being used by the road crew.
One Worker Killed in the Mérida–Cancún Highway Accident

According to preliminary reports, a 21-year-old worker was removing traffic cones when the collision occurred. He suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene.
Following the impact, the tractor-trailer continued traveling for several meters before leaving the roadway and coming to a stop in the surrounding vegetation.

Three additional workers were injured in the accident.
Paramedics arrived at the scene to provide emergency medical assistance before transporting the injured workers to the General Hospital of Valladolid, where they remain under medical care.
Members of the National Guard secured the area to facilitate rescue operations and manage traffic, while experts and investigators from the State Attorney General’s Office conducted the corresponding investigation and removed the victim’s body.
