While Tulum is managing to recover from the serious situation it has been facing due to what critics describe as Diego Castañón’s poor administration at the head of the local government, the insecurity situation continues to reveal its presence.
Early Monday morning, an armed attack was reported at a business located in the city center, on Beta Sur Street between Andromeda and Tulum Avenue. Initial reports indicate that armed individuals arrived at the entrance of the establishment and opened fire.
As a result of the attack, a man identified as the head of security was shot in the head and was killed at the scene.
Likewise, a woman identified as a waitress who was working at the establishment was injured by gunfire.
Although patrol units from the police forces involved in the well-known “Security Shield” operation arrived at the scene, no person was arrested.
The insecurity situation continues to worsen, especially in Tulum, since Castañón’s arrival in power.
