Guanajuato International Film Festival Continues With a Full Day of Cinema in San Miguel de Allende
The Guanajuato International Film Festival (GIFF) continues this Thursday, July 30, with an intense schedule in San Miguel de Allende, where screenings, conferences, panels, and industry activities transform the World Heritage city into one of the main meeting points for national and international cinema.
Activities will take place at venues such as the Ignacio Ramírez “El Nigromante” Cultural Center, the Allende Cultural Center, Santa Ana Theater, Cinemex La Luciérnaga, Catalyts, and the Rabeat Hole, with a program that ranges from documentary cinema and Mexican feature films to spaces dedicated to technological innovation, artificial intelligence, and the training of new generations of filmmakers.
One of the day’s main attractions will be Epicenter GIFF 2026, where from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. attendees will be able to experience virtual reality, artificial intelligence, and new technologies applied to cinema, one of the festival’s initiatives to explore the future of the audiovisual industry.
The academic agenda will also play an important role with the Panel on Women in Audiovisual Innovation, as well as master conferences dedicated to Inna Payán and Marina de Tavira, two prominent figures in Mexican cinema whose careers will be recognized during this edition of the festival.
In terms of cinematography, the Official Selection will offer a wide variety of screenings. Highlights include Short Film Competition Programs 2, 4, and 7, as well as international feature films and documentaries such as Discipline, along with films from the Iridiscencia section, which continues bringing contemporary proposals from different parts of the world closer to audiences.
Mexican cinema will also have a central place with screenings of Nuestro Cuerpo es una Estrella que se Expande, Motel Paraíso, and Boli Derretido, while the Mavericks and Luminarias: Masters in Cinema sections will present titles such as Laguna, Wax and Gold, We Are The Fruits Of Our Forest, and Drácula.
Children will also have a special space with the Niños en Acción Red Carpet and the screening of Papaya, as part of the program dedicated to younger audiences.
Industry activities will continue at Catalyts with the GIFF 2026 Incubator, where producers, creators, and specialists will participate in professional meetings and consultations focused on developing new film projects.
For those who enjoy late-night screenings, the day will conclude with the traditional Midnight Madness section, featuring Once In A Full Moon, Hot Line Supernova, and [No] Body, ideal for fans of cult cinema and the festival’s most daring proposals.
