The Oaxaca State Attorney General’s Office (FGEO) carried out coordinated operations that resulted in the arrest of 11 individuals, as well as the seizure of multiple doses of suspected drugs, a firearm, live ammunition, and tactical equipment in the municipality of Juchitán de Zaragoza.
The operations were conducted by the Oaxaca State Attorney General’s Office (FGEO) through agents of the State Investigation Agency (AEI), in coordination with the Ministry of National Defense (DEFENSA), the National Guard, and the State Police, as part of patrols and strategic actions aimed at strengthening security and combating crime in the Isthmus of Tehuantepec region.
How the suspects were arrested with drugs and tactical equipment
As a result of these operations, authorities first arrested L.G.V.O., J.V.M., and J.A.S.V., who were found in possession of a poster containing threatening messages directed at public institutions, referencing a group identified as “Grupo Conejo,” as well as doses of crystal methamphetamine and marijuana.
In a second operation, security forces arrested V.J.D.J., A.L.R., alias “El Negrín,” J.J.O.A., and E.D.O.L., alias “Malumín.” Authorities seized doses of crystal methamphetamine, cocaine, and marijuana.
Finally, four additional individuals identified as I.C.S., L.A.L.M., E.C.M., and P.A.S.Z. were arrested. During this operation, authorities seized marijuana, crystal methamphetamine, a handgun with live ammunition, and a tactical vest bearing the official insignia of the Oaxaca State Attorney General’s Office (FGEO) and the State Investigation Agency (AEI).
According to information obtained through criminal intelligence investigations, the detainees may be linked to the criminal groups “Los Cromos” (eight of those arrested) and the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) (three of those arrested), which are allegedly involved in extortion and protection-racket operations in the Isthmus of Tehuantepec region.
The 11 detainees, along with the seized evidence, were turned over to the appropriate prosecutorial authorities, who will determine their legal status.
