Cuauhtémoc Borough Sends 57 Parking Space Attendants to Civic Court
The Cuauhtémoc Borough referred 57 people to the Civic Court during the past week for illegally reserving parking spaces on public streets and improperly charging motorists.
The operations are part of the actions led by Mayor Alessandra Rojo de la Vega to recover streets, sidewalks, and public spaces that have been occupied illegally in various neighborhoods throughout the borough.
Operations Against Illegal Parking Space Attendants in 18 Neighborhoods
According to a statement from the borough government, the operations were carried out in Atlampa, Santa María Insurgentes, Peralvillo, Ex Hipódromo de Peralvillo, Santa María la Ribera, Guerrero, Centro, San Rafael, Tabacalera, Roma Norte, Condesa, Hipódromo Condesa, Roma Sur, Doctores, Obrera, Paulino Navarro, Vista Alegre, Asturias, and Ampliación Asturias.
During the inspections, personnel from the General Directorate of Public Security identified individuals who allegedly used objects to reserve parking spaces and demand payment from vehicle owners.
Those involved were taken before the Civic Court, where the appropriate penalties will be determined in accordance with current regulations.
Authorities Identify Apparently Abandoned Vehicles
In addition to the referrals, authorities placed 96 warning stickers on vehicles that appeared to be abandoned at different locations throughout the borough.
The placement of these notices is part of the administrative procedure used to identify vehicles that have remained on public streets for extended periods and, if necessary, arrange for their removal.
The borough stated that the objective is to recover occupied public spaces, improve mobility, and reduce risks for pedestrians, motorists, and residents of the affected neighborhoods.
Operations Will Continue
The General Directorate of Public Security announced that it will continue conducting operations to prevent the illegal reservation of parking spaces, unauthorized parking fees, and the prolonged occupation of public streets by abandoned vehicles.
Authorities stated that these actions are intended to guarantee the safe and unrestricted use of public spaces while addressing residents’ complaints regarding illegal parking attendants, objects placed on public roads, and abandoned vehicles.
