Importers of used vehicles in Reynosa warned about the spread of advertisements on social media offering the supposed legalization of vehicles through injunctions, lawsuits, or customs documents that are not recognized by federal authorities.
The sector representative, Hugo Jofre Chávez, warned that there are currently specific and regulated procedures for importing and regularizing foreign vehicles. Therefore, any process offered outside the legal framework represents a risk to vehicle owners’ assets.
He explained that the current importation system through a customs document applies only to certain vehicle models, while vehicles of foreign origin located in the border region must also meet the requirements established by the competent authorities for their regularization.
He noted that people who accept these types of offers could lose the money they invest, face financial penalties, and even become unable to legally register their vehicles.
Jofre Chávez stated that in recent days, social media posts have been detected targeting mainly residents of Reynosa and Matamoros, in which individuals promote supposed injunctions or A1 and A3 customs documents as an alternative to nationalize automobiles, even though these mechanisms are not authorized for that purpose.
Given this situation, he urged owners of foreign vehicles to verify that any procedure is carried out exclusively through authorized importers and in accordance with current regulations, in order to avoid becoming victims of fraud or facing possible penalties from the authorities.
The representative reiterated that before beginning any procedure, it is advisable to consult with accredited specialists and be wary of offers that promise quick legalization or procedures outside official channels.
