171

Guadalajara Airport will expand its international connectivity with a new direct route to Washington Dulles, one of the main air entry points to the capital of the United States. The service will be operated by Volaris and will begin in December 2026. The new connection represents an opportunity to strengthen ties between Jalisco and the United States, particularly at a time when Guadalajara maintains a strategic role in international business, tourism, and mobility flows.

The Guadalajara-Washington Dulles flight will also be a new route for Guadalajara’s airport. Its launch will allow passengers from Jalisco and other states in the region to travel directly to the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area without having to make an intermediate stop.

Volaris will connect Guadalajara with Washington Dulles starting in December 2026

The Mexican airline Volaris will begin operating the direct flight between Guadalajara and Washington Dulles on December 1, 2026.

The route will initially operate three days a week from Guadalajara to the United States:

  • Tuesday: Guadalajara-Washington Dulles.
  • Thursday: Guadalajara-Washington Dulles.
  • Saturday: Guadalajara-Washington Dulles.

In the opposite direction, the Washington Dulles-Guadalajara route will begin operating on December 2, 2026, with flights scheduled for Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays.

Washington Dulles International Airport is located in Virginia, approximately 42 kilometers west of downtown Washington, D.C. It is the main international airport serving the metropolitan area of the U.S. capital and serves as one of the region’s primary air entry points.

How much does the flight from Guadalajara to Washington Dulles cost?

According to the Volaris website, the fare displayed under the Zero option was 3,029 pesos, although this amount corresponds only to the ticket price and does not include the Airport Use Fee (TUA). The TUA was 1,275 pesos, bringing the combined amount to 4,304 pesos per passenger, before adding any additional services.

The flight consulted departs from Guadalajara at 11:47 p.m. and arrives in Washington Dulles at 5:00 a.m., with an estimated duration of 4 hours and 13 minutes. However, there is an important point for travelers: prices are not fixed. The fare found corresponds exclusively to the search conducted in August 2026 and may change depending on availability, purchase date, and reservation conditions.

What does each Volaris fare include?

The search showed three travel options, each with different benefits and conditions:

  • Zero: 3,029 pesos. Includes one personal item, Altitude Points accumulation, and benefits related to v.club. The TUA of 1,275 pesos is added to this fare.
  • Basic: 3,786 pesos. Includes one personal item, one checked bag weighing up to 15 kilograms, Altitude Points, and the option to move the flight to an earlier time. The TUA is also charged separately.
  • Plus: 4,923 pesos. Includes one personal item, one carry-on bag, one checked bag weighing up to 25 kilograms, Volaris TV, Altitude Points, the option to move the flight to an earlier time, a full refund, and unlimited flight changes.

In all three cases, travelers should consider that the initially displayed price does not include the 1,275-peso TUA. This means that comparing only the base price may give a different perception of the final cost. To determine how much will actually be paid, taxes, airport fees, and, if applicable, additional services such as seat selection or extra baggage must be added.

Guadalajara Airport adds four new international routes with Volaris

The Washington Dulles connection is part of a broader international expansion strategy by Volaris from Guadalajara.

Starting in December, the airline will add four new connections from the capital of Jalisco to destinations in North, Central, and South America:

  1. Guadalajara-Washington Dulles: will begin on December 1, with operations on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.
  2. Guadalajara-Atlanta: will begin on December 2, with flights on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays.
  3. Guadalajara-MedellĂn: will begin on December 2, with operations on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
  4. Guadalajara-Guatemala City: will begin on December 4, with flights on Mondays and Fridays.

Two of these routes will be completely new for Guadalajara International Airport: Washington Dulles and MedellĂn.

The expansion will increase direct connectivity options for passengers from Jalisco and may also benefit travelers from other states who use Guadalajara as their international departure point.

Guadalajara Airport continues to experience passenger growth

The arrival of new routes comes amid continued growth at Guadalajara International Airport. According to information from Grupo Aeroportuario del PacĂfico (GAP), between January and July 2026, the airport handled 11 million passengers, representing an increase of 4% compared with the same period in 2025.

This performance reflects the existing demand for air connectivity from Jalisco and helps explain airlines’ interest in expanding their offerings from Guadalajara’s airport. With the new international services, the airport maintains 65 active routes, consolidating a network that connects Guadalajara with various markets in North America, Central America, and South America.
