To Contribute to a Culture of Peace and Respect for All Forms of Life, Sonora Authorities Urge Anonymous Reporting of Animal Abuse
To contribute to a culture of peace and respect for all forms of life, the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC) in Sonora urges people to file an anonymous report through the 089 hotline if they witness any act of mistreatment, abuse, or cruelty toward animals.
The state agency reported that so far this year, a total of 346 anonymous reports concerning this offense have been received through 089 from across the state. These reports were referred to municipal authorities for attention.
Based on statistics from the 089 hotline in Sonora, the following reports were received:
January: 32
February: 44
March: 31
April: 27
May: 68
June: 54
July: 64
So far in August: 26
The Sonora SSPC stated that its crime-prevention programs, promoted through the Permanent Peace Initiative, include awareness talks beginning in childhood about the importance of respecting all forms of life and caring for pets.
