The Metropolitan Water and Sanitation Group (Grupo MAS) has officially announced the temporary suspension of potable water service this Thursday, August 20, in the municipality of Veracruz. The measure will affect a specific sector of the population during the afternoon.
According to information provided by the concessionaire, the interruption of water service will begin at 4:00 p.m. Operations are expected to conclude at 8:00 p.m. the same day, resulting in a total of four hours without water.
The residential areas that will be directly affected are El Vergel, Lázaro Cárdenas, and the El Vergel Housing Unit. Residents of these three areas should take the necessary precautions because of the temporary interruption of service in their homes.
Reasons for the Interruption
The main reason for the suspension is the need to carry out preventive maintenance work on the water supply network. The company’s technical staff will work directly on the well that supplies water to the affected area, which will be temporarily taken out of operation.
Through these improvement efforts, the water utility aims to ensure the continuous and efficient production of drinking water over the long term. Local infrastructure requires these scheduled interruptions to optimize its operation and prevent major failures that could cause prolonged shortages.
Recommendations and Alternatives
In response to the situation, Grupo MAS has issued preventive recommendations to residents of the affected neighborhoods. Residents are encouraged to store water in advance and use it responsibly while technicians carry out the work.
To mitigate the impact of the suspension, the company has made potable water tanker trucks available to users. Residents who require this alternative supply can request it by calling 229 454 6550.
Authorities have reiterated the call for residents to make preparations before 4:00 p.m. this Thursday. Citizen cooperation is essential to get through the four-hour interruption without major difficulties until service is fully restored and water pressure returns to normal.
