The Governor of Tabasco, Javier May Rodríguez, will inaugurate the 4th Mexican Zebu Cattle Exhibition, which will take place from August 22 to 30 at the competition arena of Parque Tabasco, with the participation of 87 exhibitors from Tabasco, Veracruz, Chiapas, and Nuevo León, who will present 796 specimens.
In announcing the event, the head of the Secretariat of Agricultural and Fisheries Development (SEDAP), Guillermo Priego León, highlighted the support of Governor Javier May for the livestock sector and stated that the exhibition will showcase the genetic advances achieved by Tabasco producers.
“The truth is that Tabasco is a national benchmark for Zebu genetics, so there will be specimens of excellent quality,” he said.

Likewise, Priego León said that during the nine days of activities, producers benefiting from the state Livestock Credit for the People program will be invited to learn about the participating specimens, including some breeding bulls delivered through this program.
“This exhibition continues to position Tabasco nationally in the breed and is an example of the support that the State Government provides to the livestock sector,” he added.
Meanwhile, the Undersecretary of Agricultural Development and Livestock, Joaquín Alejandro Ligonio, highlighted that the event takes place after Tabasco producers won first places at an exhibition held in Acapulco. “Because Tabasco is a national benchmark in Zebu and synthetic cattle breeding, we will soon announce more livestock events at the national level,” he stated.
In turn, the Undersecretary of Economic Development, Juan Basilio Taracena Gordillo, reported that last year’s edition generated an economic impact of 5 million pesos, so they expect to exceed that figure. Meanwhile, rancher and member of the organizing committee, Constantino Pérez Marín, highlighted the construction of the judging arena.
“Therefore, we thank Governor Javier May Rodríguez for the construction of this judging arena, as part of the Livestock Pavilion at Parque Tabasco,” he emphasized.
The program includes the “Young Handler” competition, aimed at children up to 15 years old, with categories for children up to 5 years old, ages 6 to 10, ages 11 to 15, and a special category. The activity seeks to encourage family participation and ensure generational succession in livestock farming in Tabasco.
