Hidalgo reported nine new COVID-19 cases during August 2026, increasing from 145 to 154 cumulative infections, while the number of deaths remained at nine.
Reports from the Federal Ministry of Health, issued through the General Directorate of Epidemiology, show that during August 2026, positive diagnoses in Hidalgo are increasing, while mortality remains stable.
When comparing the statistical progress between consecutive weeks, the state recorded an increase in the number of detected infections. During epidemiological week 31 — covering August 2 to 8 — the state had a cumulative total of 145 confirmed positive cases.
Seven days later, at the close of epidemiological week 32, from August 9 to 15, the cumulative total increased to 154, confirming nine new cases during that weekly period.
In contrast to this increase in virus positivity, the fatal impact remained unchanged in the state.
The cumulative record of deaths associated with the disease remained static, with nine fatalities recorded in both weeks evaluated, a figure that places Hidalgo as the state with the highest number of COVID-19 deaths in the country during this period.
Meanwhile, surveillance of acute respiratory illnesses in medical units (USMER) increased from 3,682 to 3,748 general notifications of Influenza-Like Illness and Severe Acute Respiratory Infection.
Given the continued appearance of new positive diagnoses and the stability in deaths, the health sector reiterates the importance of maintaining basic preventive measures and seeking timely medical evaluation when any respiratory symptoms appear.
