Former BBVA Employee Arrested in Nuevo León for Allegedly Defrauding Elderly Customers of Millions
A former BBVA employee was arrested by authorities in Santiago, Nuevo León, after allegedly defrauding several elderly customers of millions of pesos. What happened?
According to reports, the woman was arrested in the municipality of Santiago after being accused of diverting millions of pesos from customers’ accounts through banking transactions linked to investment funds.
The investigation against the suspect, identified as Griselda ‘N’, began after a 12-million-peso embezzlement was reported from the savings account of a customer residing in the municipality of Allende, Nuevo León.
Following that report, authorities discovered that the suspect was allegedly engaged in banking fraud, taking advantage of her position at the banking institution by using deception to carry out unauthorized financial transactions in the accounts of victims who were often elderly people.
According to a report by Nuevo León state prosecutor Javier Enrique Flores, investigations are being conducted into the 12-million-peso case as well as a new case involving an alleged 300,000-peso fraud involving a different victim.
So far, it is unknown how many people were affected or how much money was diverted beyond the amounts reported in these cases.
According to reports, authorities from the Nuevo León State Attorney General’s Office began the corresponding investigations to identify other possible victims of the former employee and bring the case to a resolution.
