From Casa Chiapas, in Mexico City, Governor Eduardo Ramírez Aguilar led the presentation of the Producer Roaster Forum (PRF) 2027 and the 2026 Carrera Panamericana, two international events that will be held in Chiapas and will showcase the state as a safe and attractive destination to visit and invest in.
During the presentation, the governor explained that the Producer Roaster Forum, which will be held in Mexico for the first time on March 18 and 19, 2027, will bring together producers, roasters, buyers, specialists, and researchers from the global coffee industry in the city of Tuxtla Gutiérrez. The event will create opportunities for business and commercialization, as well as strengthen the connectivity of supply chains at the local, national, and international levels.
Ramírez Aguilar highlighted the importance of the forum for Chiapas, noting that coffee production is one of the state’s most important economic activities and that it produces more than 60 percent of the coffee consumed in Mexico. He added that an economic impact of up to $15 million is projected, which will benefit the sector’s economy and contribute to increasing the quantity and, above all, the quality standards of coffee.
Regarding the Carrera Panamericana, which will take place in October, the governor said that its second consecutive year in Chiapas is the result of the peace prevailing in the state and the ability to travel safely through its different regions, thanks to law enforcement, the security strategy, and the restoration of public confidence.
The governor stated that the presence of both events represents an opportunity to contribute to the prosperity of the people of Chiapas. “They are very attractive activities, but they are also a good excuse to visit and enjoy the natural beauty and the cultural and historical wealth that characterize Chiapas before the world.”
At this press conference, the governor was accompanied by Tourism Secretary Segundo Guillén Gordillo; Jorge Baldemar Utrilla Robles, director of the Chiapas Coffee Institute; Andrea Melo-León, Director of Operations at Producer & Roaster Forum (PRF); and Carlos Cordero, director of the Carrera Panamericana.
