Today, without a doubt, an unprecedented worldwide event in the history of Chiapas begins. From these lands of Chiapas, the International Literacy Day 2026, “Literacy for People, the Planet and Prosperity,” is being celebrated today, September 8, carrying the signature of UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization), a specialized agency of the United Nations (UN) founded on November 16, 1945. Today and tomorrow (September 8 and 9), important events will take place, beginning with the presentation of six international distinctions to various organizations and individuals from several countries. There will also be panel discussions addressing important global issues in education, with participants from different corners of the planet, as well as keynote conferences.
Unprecedented. A unique global celebration in Chiapas, where San Cristóbal de las Casas and San Juan Chamula will witness this worldwide literacy event, with personalities from the five continents who speak the same language when it comes to education, working to cultivate human beings throughout the planet. That is the distinction of this celebration, which now, within the experience of a new era in Chiapas, is reaching the entire world thanks to the work of the Secretariat of Education and the “Chiapas Puede” program.
The “Chiapas Puede” literacy program has achieved gradual effectiveness and awakened the interest of international organizations such as UNESCO, which carried out the investigations and searches required for this type of assessment, especially in distant areas of the state that present greater difficulties. The head of the program, Flor Marina Bermúdez, during her appearance on Wednesday, August 12 —almost a month ago— on the Z Digital program of Diario de Chiapas Multimedia, provided a general assessment of the progress achieved up to that point by this government project, which has received recognition in the country and internationally. Obviously, the program, in its geographic distribution and strategy, has also experienced disappointments involving public servants who have strayed from the good intentions of finally giving education in Chiapas a new direction. This cannot be denied; creating a culture of educational development is not an easy task, beyond what Chiapas is now bringing to the forefront regarding literacy. So things stand.
The State Council of Notaries strengthens its fiscal-update efforts with a keynote conference. – With the purpose of strengthening the professional preparation of the profession and maintaining continuous training on issues of particular relevance to the practice of notarial functions, the State Council of Notaries of the State of Chiapas held the keynote conference “Tax Compliance Rules for Notaries,” delivered by the distinguished Mexican lawyer and jurist Dr. Luis Manuel Pérez de Acha. The meeting was headed by Notary Ovidio Cortázar Ramos, president of the State Council of Notaries of the State of Chiapas, and was attended by female and male notaries and employees of notary offices from different parts of the state, who were able to follow the conference both in person and online, thereby expanding the reach of this academic activity.
The presence of the jurist in Chiapas represents an important contribution to dialogue and legal training within the notarial profession, particularly in an area that requires specialized knowledge, responsibility, and constant attention to changes in tax regulations. Through these actions, the State Council of Notaries of Chiapas reaffirmed its commitment to a notarial profession prepared to respond to new legal, fiscal, and social challenges, with adherence to the law, professional responsibility, and a vocation for service.
Rapiditas. – Beyond the irrationality and even vandalism that Guillermo Santiago has been carrying out while campaigning for the Tuxtla municipal government, he should already be stopped by the national leadership of MORENA. It is inconceivable that representatives of political parties before the INE, where he also represents MORENA, have accused him of serious allegations, beginning with the painting of more than 800 walls in support of his political aspirations. Worst of all, the question was heard throughout the offices of the national INE: Where were the public resources coming from to pay for all those painted walls? It is an unprecedented case within MORENA, in which its own representative before the INE is being questioned by his own party. It is incredible, and Guillermo Santiago is being allowed to do everything.
Another agitator is Jovani Salazar, who had disappeared for a while and returned with the foolishness of an advertising banner bearing the propaganda slogan “Jovani is the right one,” and if he is the right one, why does he say it, and furthermore, how does he know? A deplorable action that does not help the creator of the “largest jícara of pozol in Copoya.” His activities have now become more arrogant and presumptuous. He could be a good local congressman, but if he wants the “Coneja seat,” he should stay away from the witches, sorcerers, and clairvoyants he has at a Church of the Latter Days in Veracruz, and he should stop saying that he has power within the State Public Security Secretariat.
Another person who stepped into the arena, but with diligence and strategy, is Neftalí del Toro in Tapachula. He not only changed political party affiliations, leaving the PRI for the PVEM, but, with advisers, is seeking to become a federal deputy for the Green Party, considering that MORENA may not gain momentum in the city, regardless of who the candidate is. The truth is that Tapachula represents the national security of the country, and given the current situation, MORENA will not want to lose that political franchise or prerogative. The PRI lost Tapachula for more than 20 years because the PRD would win it, but in the late afternoon and evening on election Sundays, ballot boxes with electoral ballots would arrive from the upper part of Tapachula and overwhelm the PRD. This is a legend surrounding electoral fraud. Today it will be MORENA’s turn. In addition, MORENA has very favorable polling numbers, at least at this early stage of the electoral campaign, because the strategic months are still ahead, extending into the beginning of next year.
