Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo Hoteliers to Use September’s Lower Occupancy for Maintenance and Worker Training

The president of the Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo Hotel Association, Paola González, reported that hoteliers will take advantage of lower occupancy in September to carry out maintenance on their facilities and train workers.

In statements, the hotel representative explained that September coincides with the end of the summer vacation period and a greater presence of rain and tropical cyclones, conditions that have historically affected the arrival of visitors and hotel occupancy.

González said that establishments take this behavior into account every year in their budgets, allocating resources to take advantage of periods of lower activity for work that would be more difficult to carry out when occupancy is high.

The planned actions include maintenance and improvements to facilities, renovation or repair of furniture, and work on food and beverage service areas. Worker training is also included to update knowledge related to the provision of tourism services.

According to González, reservations currently registered for October do not reflect lower activity compared with the same period in 2025.

For November and December, hoteliers also maintain positive expectations based on the booking trends observed so far.
