One of those affected died and another with serious injuries, beginning the corresponding investigations by the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE).
The first case reported was that of the community of Atecax, in Xiutetelco, where a man was accused of stealing a truck in Perote, Veracruz; So, a group of civilians held him, tied him up and beat him, and then set him on fire.
Agents from the Municipal Police, State Police and even federal elements intervened to rescue the alleged thief who was rushed to the General Hospital of Teziutlán, where he is still struggling between life and death.
The affected person was identified as Brian ‘N’, originally from San Martin Xiutetelco, who according to locals, is known as a repeat offender, so the ministerial authorities must investigate both the crime of which he was a victim and his possible criminal history.
On the other hand, in the Auxiliary Board of San Andrés Payuca, another man was identified as a thief, after he allegedly stole a truck, so residents of Cuyoaco grouped together to “lynch” him.
The man in question was detained and beaten in various ways, however, he managed to take a vehicle to try to escape. However, during the escape attempt, the civilian collided and died as a result of the accumulation of injuries on his body.
Up to this point, the public security authorities attended but were only able to create a security perimeter where the Prosecutor’s Office began the removal of the body and carried out the legal investigations.
Both events have been condemned by the Ministry of Public Security (SSP), who reaffirmed its commitment to upholding the law and preventing these acts, which become a group crime, which is why we will work with the FGE in guarantee the clarification of facts.
