It’s no secret that the beaches of Los Cabos are some of the most beautiful and sought after by tourists, but what many don’t know is that they are also home to five of the most biodiverse and productive maritime regions in the world.
Associates from the Westin Los Cabos Resort Villas & Spa, a Marriott Vacations Worldwide resort, were recently recognized for their commitment to protecting the property’s natural surroundings – their “Green Committee” was certified by the Green Key FEE (Foundation for Environmental Education) Mexico.
The Green Committee is comprised of five associates from different departments, with the goal of spreading environmental information across the staff and attracting a broader range of associates to participate in their initiatives.
Recent efforts include:
- -Cleaning up Playa Tule, collecting more than 278 pounds (126 kg) of trash
- Working with biologists and residents to remove invasive water hyacinths from the San José Estero
- -Sea turtle conservation
- -Creating gardens around the resort for associates to grow herbs and fruit for Owners, Members, associates, and guests to enjoy
- -“Recycle Your Style” Runway Show for Earth Day, where associates recycled materials to design articles of clothing.
