A group of people on motorcycles stole a patrol car from municipal police when they were responding to an emergency in a neighborhood of San Cristóbal de Las Casas, which sparked a police chase to recover it.
On Thursday night, two municipal elements aboard of a patrol approached one of the streets in the La Garita neighborhood, where an emergency situation was reported; However, upon arriving at the scene, they were intercepted by a large group of people aboard vehicles and motorcycles.
The two uniformed officers, when trying to repel the attack, suffered several injuries and were stripped of their police unit, radio communication equipment and cell phones.
Fortunately, the police report states, another of the patrols that was in the area approached the scene of the events and managed to see the aggressors who began to disperse in the direction of the municipality of Tenejapa.
Reinforcements were requested and the chase for the stolen unit began, catching up with the criminals in the Romerillo community, near the Grutas del Mamut Ecotourism Park.
Agents from the Municipal Police Directorate managed to arrest the driver, Pascual “N”, 31 years old, who was placed at the disposal of the Altos A District Prosecutor’s Office, accused of the crime of robbery with violence against the city council of San Cristóbal de Las Casas.
