In December the Querétaro Airport will expand

The aim is to close the year with 1 million 600 thousand passengers, a new record number

The expansion at the Querétaro International Airport (AIQ) is expected to be completed in December, said the Secretary of Sustainable Development (Sedesu), Marco Antonio Del Prete Tercero.

There is confidence that the project will be completed before or near the holidays.

“We have a commitment from Public Works that they will be concluded in December, we will be attentive to ensuring that this is the case. We would hope that before the holidays, otherwise they will be on the edge,” he noted.

He recalled that they are working on expanding and reconditioning the last waiting room; in addition to the installation of telescopic aisles.

As part of the works, it is planned to add approximately 600 new seats for passengers. As well as two telescopic corridors, to meet the growth that the airport is having.

In this sense, the AIQ is expected to close 2023 with around 1 million 600 thousand passengers, which would be a new historical maximum.

According to the secretary, last September the airport exceeded the historical maximum by reaching almost 1 million 300 thousand passengers, surpassing the best year, 2019, before the contingency, with 1 million 090 thousand passengers.

More traffic is expected in December, as international routes begin that will connect the state with Houston and San Antonio.
