A total of six trains will serve passengers
Next Friday, December 15, the Mayan Train will be inaugurated, the great infrastructure project of the current administration of the president of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, which will begin rolling out this weekend from Campeche to Cancún, Quintana Roo.
In this context, the general director of the Mayan Train, General Óscar Lozano Águila presented some important details for the start of operations to the public, which is agreed for Saturday, December 16.
According to the member of the Secretariat of National Defense (Sedena), this weekend a first section will be launched that will run from Campeche to Cancún, which will be inaugurated by the president of Mexico.
It should be noted that within the framework of the morning conference of the Chief Executive, Lozano Águila specified that the second phase of rail transport will be from Palenque to Cancún, while the entire general project will be released on February 29, 2024.
In general, the inauguration of course will be in December 2023 of the first phase of the railway system. We will be concluding the third stage on February 29, 2024, the inauguration of these three sections (5,6 and 7) will take place and this will allow us to discover a series of wonders that you already have reference to throughout the Yucatan Peninsula”, commented the general.
Trips to the general public begin on Saturday the 16th.
A total of six trains will serve passengers.
There will be 14 stations that will be in operation during the tour.
Passengers will be able to board and disembark at each station.
The Campeche-Cancún trip will last 5 hours and 28 minutes through stops at the aforementioned stations.
The first trip will depart at 7:00 a.m. on Saturday arriving at Cancun at 1:18 p.m. due to the time change in Quintana Roo.
The second trip will leave at 11 and arrive at 5:58 p.m.
The inauguration is scheduled for next Friday, December 15 at 10:00 a.m. with the presence of President López Obrador.
