The president Andrés Manuel López Obrador said that he will not visit the damaged neighborhoods of Acapulco, Guerrero, due to the floods caused by the storm “Otis”, because he could be ambushed and offended by people who are manipulated by his adversaries.
In his morning conference, the head of the federal Executive said that he prefers to avoid confrontations and that he will support the victims through the authorities.
“I’m not going to the neighborhoods because they can set me up an ambush and offend me, and I don’t want that, I don’t want confrontations, I don’t want to fight with anyone, I want peace and tranquility, and I want to help everyone, but there are people who are manipulated by our adversaries,” he said.
He added that he has information that there are groups that seek to provoke him and that he does not fall into any provocation.
“I have information that there are groups that want to provoke me and I don’t fall into any provocation, I’m very careful. Imagine that I go to a neighborhood and they start shouting at me and throwing things at me, what do I gain from that? What does the country gain from that? Nothing, absolutely nothing,” he said.
He also said that he respects the right to protest and dissent, but that he does not agree with violence or manipulation.
“I respect the right to protest, the right to dissent, I am the result of a movement that always protested, that always manifested itself, but I don’t agree with violence, I don’t agree with manipulation, I don’t agree with opportunism, I don’t agree with conservatism,” he said.
