This Tuesday night, a new edition of the Sculpture Route was inaugurated, organized by Galería Trieste México in the Historic Center

As part of the activities of the 27th edition of the May Cultural Festival (FCM), this Tuesday night a new edition of the Sculpture Route was inaugurated, organized by Galería Trieste México in the Historic Center. The tour began in the Guadalajara Cathedral and ended in the vicinity of El Santuario, crossing the Paseo Fray Antonio Alcalde, where the attending public was able to admire 14 sculptures of important format, which will be available to passers-by until June 9, 2024. .
By the way, Sergio Alejandro Matos, director of the FCM, shared that last year this event started from Chapultepec Avenue, passing through Libertad to the Historic Center with an attendance of more than 500 thousand people around the route.
“Now we start from the Cathedral to the Sanctuary in the heart of Guadalajara, covering the Municipal Palace, the Rotunda of the Illustrious Jaliscienses and the head of José Fors, in addition to the sculpture of Juan Soriano. So, this is a route that has a character history that has to do with the city”.
Matos points out that the concept of the sculpture walk at the FCM is so that other galleries like Trieste, in this case, can do their own sculpture route, or some other event that has to do with artistic disciplines. “The festival opens its space for each gallery to make its proposal.”
In addition, he highlights that there are parallel activities around the Sculpture Route such as the opening of workshops by some of the creators who are participating in the event. “With these we want to focus on the importance of the cultural activity of the neighborhood and Paseo Fray Antonio Alcalde itself.”
Gabriela Sánchez, who attended the inauguration, highlights the importance of developing a project like this for the recreation of passers-by. “It seems like a great success to me, I have already visited the route and it seems to me that the fact that it is in the center of the city is very significant, I think it is an area where a lot of tourism comes so that they can get to know the art and the promotion that is done of this one in Jalisco.”
Regarding the proposal of the participating artists, she highlights that it is very varied “and very well curated.” “We have seen works with a more classic style and others that are more avant-garde.”
Balo Pulido, who presented his work “Bird’s Nest”, highlighted that his piece is made of steel plate, which measures two meters and with the base reaches three. “The work mainly talks about what a society or a university is like where one grows and learns to fly, but some of us return to the nest. Also at this moment where the FCM’s tribute is to the 200th anniversary of Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony, involuntarily The work alludes to this because the Ninth was a hopeful moment and I feel that in this piece I try to do the same.”
Finally, Camilo Ramírez, who is presenting his work “Aura” on this route, points out that it is a three and a half meter piece with a mixture of metal with bronze and quarry. “There I make an evocation of women, a tribute to the women of yesteryear with very ancient traditions and to the women of today, evoking their energy, their vitality and their daily walk. The sculpture begins with quarry engraved with baroque cuts where I pay homage to the women of our past and the work unfolds in a contemporary way until it ends up very abstract”.
