The sun had not yet risen, it was approximately 6:00 a.m. when three members of Travesías Laguna and I set out to meet ‘The Valley of the Spheres’, located in Dinamita, Durango, a place that hikers have placed among its favorite routes, as it offers a series of charms ready for those eyes that know how to appreciate adventure.

With a journey of an hour and a half from the city of Torreón, Coahuila, upon arrival, the first thing one realizes is that not any vehicle can enter the area, since the terrain to be traveled is very hostile, upon entering the area ends. pavement, in addition to encountering risky cliffs, exposing the non-specialized unit to not only suffering damage to its bodywork, but even to overturning.

Giant spherical rocks

Upon arriving at the place, the first thing that can be seen far and wide is that it seems as if the place had been dotted with rocks whose formations are exclusively spherical, because wherever you turn, the eye will find them of all sizes and forming structures that have a psychological effect similar to pareidolia with clouds, because between the members of Travesías Laguna and I, we saw rocks forming dinosaurs, shoes and even humanoid bodies.

Among the highlights when touring the area, you can see the giant rocks, which reach a height of approximately 6 meters, which with a somewhat romanticized perception in the style of ‘Don Quixote and his windmills’, could seem like the space vehicles of a strange lost civilization.

Something that the members of Travesías Laguna constantly pointed out to me were the strange positions from which many rounded rocks hung, that is, you can see many of them stacked in ways that defy physics, giving the impression that with little more than a simple If the wind blew, one of those immense natural structures could be demolished.

Paintings

Definitely, something that surprised me a lot was the way in which the cave paintings are displayed in the area, because despite their historical longevity, there they are, without any care or protection, just there in the open, without any fee, just waiting for all those who have the audacity to get there.

In fact, getting to the cave paintings is not such a simple task, since to access the area where they are located you have to wear your body covered, since the grass you have to cross is tall and has thorns. However, as former football player Jimmy Johnson said, “the difference between the ordinary and the extraordinary is the extra effort.”

Visiting the cave painting is totally worth it, obviously you have to know how to appreciate the history, and be aware of the energies that can emanate from a relic where lines capture so much culture and identity of our past. An unforgettable experience, since we speak of a precedent of those who preceded us, of those who were before, and sowed the seeds of the place we call home today.

The legends of the treasure in the area

A place as enigmatic as this has to have its stories around it, such is the case of the legend that continues to be in force among hikers and treasure hunters, because although there are different versions of it, only the position of the legend changes. the location where, according to the legendary outlaw Pancho Villa, he would have once buried and hidden a true treasure in the silent and extensive wasteland.

This is how an inhospitable place, as a result of all the attractions mentioned above, becomes charming, because it is not only the magic of the desolate environment in the area, and the cryptic nature of the cave paintings or legends, but the possibility of returning to connect with oneself, in a challenge of man against nature, that is where hiking and the ability to want to live a true adventure to improve oneself comes in, because as the writer and journalist Ernest Hemingway said, “true nobility lies in being superior to your old self.”
