This brewery keeps the best of San Miguel in a bottle of craft beer
In San Miguel de Allende you find everything. Cobblestone streets full of history, unique gastronomic proposals and great places to have a drink or enjoy a beer. It is for this last drink that it is worth adding one more place to your gastronomic agenda: Cervecería Allende.
Near the center of the Guanajuato city you can try a series of craft beers that, since 2014, stand out for their quality and creativity by bottling the history of Mexico and San Miguel. To give you an idea, in Menu we tell you about the options they have.
Everything happens in the Tap Room of Cervecería Allende, which is located next to the Real de Minas hotel, in San Miguel. Here you can come to try the new menu, which includes wings, aguachile and even cheese fingers, but the action begins when the beers arrive. We tell you about six that are worth trying.
Allende 100 Light lager
To start the journey without guilt. This clear and light beer contains only 100 calories, although it does not stand out for that alone. It has little alcohol content, and the color resembles dried grass; The aroma has notes of whole grains, bread, and light citrus tones. In the mouth it is very light, perfect for the hot season. It goes very well with a green shrimp aguachile.
Allende Agave lager
One of the stars of the brewery. Prepared with water, malt, hops, yeast and espadín agave, drinking this cheve is the same as tasting a maguey pineapple cooking in the oven. The sweet tones stand out a lot, making this beer a great option for lovers of agave distillates. Its copper color also stands out, and the smoky notes similar to mezcal that are perceived in the nose and mouth. In terms of alcohol levels, it is low, with 4.2 degrees.
Allende Golden ale
This was one of the first to be born by the brewery. Golden in color, this beer stands out for its aroma of citrus fruits such as orange, pineapple and honey, which are the result of the correct handling of hops. In the mouth it is refreshing, light and with good body, characteristic of Golden ales.
Allende Brown ale
With 5 degrees of alcohol, it is one of Cervecería Allende’s best sellers. Mahogany in color, with some reddish or espresso-like notes. The foam also stands out for its brown colors. In aroma we can find toasted caramel and coffee. On the palate there is a flavor of roasted coffee, well-balanced bitterness. Accompany it with some boneless and BBQ sauce.
Allende India pale ale
This IPA has a lot of aroma, a result of the hops: stone fruits such as mango and peach, passion fruit and lychee, a little pineapple or even cut grass. In the mouth its bitterness stands out, which contrasts with highly seasoned foods such as spicy wings.
Allende Baltic Porter
Originally, this beer was only sold in late fall and winter. This is another of the jewels in the crown of Cervecería Allende. The success of this beer was such that he forced them to prepare this mixture every year. It stands out for its chocolate color, characteristic of the genre, and its creamy foam. On the nose there are notes of caramel and chocolate as well. In the mouth it is creamy and not so bitter. It goes very well with a homemade brownie.
So these are the six labels that Cervecería Allende has throughout the year. You can find some of these cheves at points of sale such as Chedraui, City Market, Walmart, La European, Vinoteca, Soriana, or La Comer, in their craft and gourmet beer sections. Although if you go to San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato, we leave you the address of the Tap Room.
