The criminal group founded in 2012 continues to generate violence in the east zone of the country’s capital

More than 10 years after its creation, the Tláhuac Cartel continues to be a problem for the capital authorities. This was evidenced by the recent arrest of Kevin ‘N’, son of Felipe de Jesús Pérez, aka ‘El Eyes’, founder and former leader of said criminal organization.

It was on May 18 when the Ministry of Citizen Security (SSC) of Mexico City reported the capture of the 22 -year -old. Two days later, the journalist Carlos Vega, from Millennium, revealed that the Attorney General’s Office (FGJ) would impute it for carrying firearms and crimes against health.

In addition, the CDMX authorities point out the possibility that Kevin ‘N’ is part of a criminal group dedicated to extortion, floor collection, arms trafficking, homicide and narcomenudeo: the Tláhuac cartel.

But where does the criminal group operate and what is its history?

From its foundation and to date, the Tláhuac cartel has been characterized by having a presence in the east of Mexico City. These are the mayors of Tláhuac, Milpa Alta Xochimilco and part of Iztapalapa; As well as Chalco, in the State of Mexico.

The reports refer that, after the fall of their leader ―‘el Eyes ’ -, occurred in 2017, the Tláhuac cartel saw its decline. However, it emphasizes that most of the descendants of Felipe de Jesús Pérez have tried to continue their criminal legacy, which has earned them their freedom.

For example, in January 2020, Alexis Pérez, then 14 years old, was arrested along with four other individuals for the kidnapping of a woman in the Tlalpan Mayor’s Office, south of the CDMX.

For his part, Miguel Ángel Pérez Rodríguez ‘El MK’, was arrested and admitted to the Oriente Men’s Preventive Prison for his responsibility in the murder of a man. In October 2021, he was sentenced to 27 years in prison.

The same happened with Diana Karen Pérez, ‘The princess of Tláhuac’ and Samantha Pérez, ‘La Sam’. Both were admitted to prison in the same way.

The Tláhuac Cartel has been the subject of multiple investigations due to its growing criminal activities and its relationship with other criminal organizations with the greatest impact. Among these connections, its link with the Beltrán Leyva Cartel, one of the most powerful and violent groups in Mexico.

And, among other things, the Tláhuac cartel was formed from several splits from the Beltrán Leyva, formerly members of the Sinaloa Cartel.

The relationship between these two criminal groups allows Tláhuac to access resources and contacts that would otherwise be unattainable for an organization of their size. This collaboration includes large -scale drug supply, logistics support and protection.

It should be noted that, in its first years of life, the Tláhuac Cartel stood out for having recruited motorcycleoxists to carry out hawk and control work.
