Mazatlán, Sin.- Restaurant owners in Mazatlán will ask to be exempt from the Prohibition Law for the election day of June 2, and to be allowed to sell alcoholic beverages in their establishments as in other electoral processes.

The president of Canirac Mazatlan, Erick Mandujano Caro, stated that they have already sent the request to the Alcohol Delegation to exempt the businesses in the tourist area.

He considered that the Prohibition prohibition should not apply to restaurants, since the consumption of alcoholic beverages is only to accompany a meal without becoming drunk.

“One issue is clubs and bars. The restaurants do things separately, we sell a beer to accompany food, people don’t go to get drunk in a restaurant, people go to eat food and always expect a beer on a Saturday or Sunday, but not the vast majority,” he said. .

Mandujano Caro explained that many people decide not to consume in restaurants before and during election day, because they know that there will be no sale of alcohol, so there would be two days lost in food sales due to the lack of regulation on the subject.

The leader of Canirac in Mazatlán indicated that they are in favor of supervising the restaurants on the Saturday before the election Sunday so that the closing hours are respected.
