In videos that have been shared on social networks, the residents of Puebla appear cleaning extensive layers of ice with shovels that even cover some parked cars, while a river of water passes to the side. Some people he films complain about the feeling of cold and are amazed by the magnitude of the disaster. The National Meteorological Service (SMN) highlighted that a low pressure channel extended over the north and center of Mexico, with instability at high levels of the atmosphere and with the entry of humidity from the Pacific Ocean and Gulf of Mexico, are the origin of the rains in the state of Puebla.
State Civil Protection has reported that heavy rains have occurred in San Salvador el Verde, San Martín Texmelucan and Puebla capital. In the historic center, neighborhoods such as Santiago, Atlixco, and some other neighborhoods in the south have been the most affected. “Only material damage is reported, with no injuries,” they say.
The Government, together with the local Civil Protection coordination, maintains monitoring of the rains in that entity.
