This weekend, Durango offers a variety of cultural and entertainment activities for all tastes. From cinema and literary presentations to classical music recitals and plays, the city has something special in store for you. Local museums host interactive workshops and family shows, and bars host nights filled with live music.

If you don’t already have plans for Saturday, May 25 and Sunday, May 26, Durango has exciting events that you won’t want to miss. Here we present some options to make the most of your free time.

On Saturday, May 25, the city is filled with interesting events. At the Durango Cineteca, you can see the film “Two are Family” at three different times: 4:30 p.m., 6:45 p.m. and 9:00 p.m.

For lovers of literature and philosophy, at the Casa de la Cultura Durango, the presentation of the essay “The existentialism of Julio Cortázar from Darwin to Nietzsche” by Leticia Salazar Castañeda at 4:00 p.m.

If you prefer classical music, don’t miss the string and piano recital that the UJED Higher School of Music will offer at the Francisco Villa Museum at 6:00 p.m., as part of the Third Cycle of Sound Art 2024.

The theater scene also has its space this Saturday with the play “Pai’kam” presented by Maika Teatro, under the direction of Jesús Alfredo Payán, at the Victoria Theater at 7:00 p.m.
For those looking for something more contemporary, the Revueltas CORE Center hosts the “Dúo Suave Agave” at 8:30 p.m., with César Alberto Nava Valdez and Carlos David Guerra Guerrero, who will delight the public with experimental Latin music.

The city’s bars also offer a variety of nighttime entertainment options. The DURAP-HOP Fest at Señor Mojito begins at 5:00 p.m. with an open microphone where the public decides the winner.

Hooligans Durango organizes a “Mexican Party” with La Waya Van’s Ska Summit Works from 6:00 p.m.

To close the night, the Q4tro Restaurant Bar presents a magical night with live music by Oscar Miranda and Rocío Barraza from 9:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.

On Sunday, May 26, activities continue with something for the whole family. The “Intergalactic Station” Arcade Social Club will host a Mario Kart Tournament at 4:00 p.m., where you can show off your skills on the track.

The city’s museums also have special activities:

At the “Guillermo Ceniceros” Museum of Modern Art, a fan-making workshop will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.;
Monologue “The Shining Machine” by Jesús Arnoldo Martínez Maldonado will be presented at the Palacio de los Gurza Museum of History and Contemporary Art at 12:00 p.m.;
The Museum of Popular Cultures of Durango will offer a bead jewelry workshop both Saturday and Sunday at 11:00 a.m.
The Durango Archeology Museum “Ganot-Peschard” has an embossing workshop for children from 12:00 to 14:00.
Finally, don’t miss the artistic festival with the folk dance group “Tierra Mestiza” at the Francisco Villa Museum at 1:00 p.m.

Finally, for soccer fans, the Wolf Tap Room will present “Champions Sunday” to watch the Liga MX Final, accompanied by live reggae, ska and cumbia music with La Waya Van from 2:00 p.m.
