Artists praise Michoacan traditions in Oaxaca

Morelia, Michoacán, August 8, 2023.- The Government of Michoacán appreciates the dedication of more than 200 artists, bearers of tradition, who raised the Michoacan culture in the city of Oaxaca with the presentation of the K’uínchekua, which was held within the framework of the Guelaguetza.

The person in charge of cultural policy in the state, Tamara Sosa Alanís, highlighted the dedication of almost 20 traditional groups that brought to the stage the different expressions of songs, dances, music and dances, faithful testimonies of the richness of Michoacán that was experienced with the K’uínchekua from the Plaza de la Danza, in the Oaxacan capital.

She recalled that the Michoacán Festival has a history of more than 30 years and a large number of participants from communities of the indigenous Otomí, Mazahua, Nahua and Purépecha peoples; The bearers of tradition are faithful heirs to their traditions.

For his part, the head of the Ministry of Tourism (Sectur), Roberto Monroy García, reported that the government headed by President Alfredo Ramírez Bedolla, keeps traditions alive and a current tourist and cultural promotion, which is why it is a source of pride that La K’uínchekua is leaving Michoacán for the first time, doing so in one of the most important cultural settings in the country.

He recalled that the state has 10 Magical Towns, making it a cultural, artisanal and touristically attractive destination, and having brought this ancestral show increases the national interest in learning about local traditions up close. He also thanked the authorities for their hospitality and the more than 5 thousand attendees who gathered at the K’uínchekua in Oaxaca.
