Despite dialogue table, CNTE continues protests
In its fourth week of strike and despite having a direct work table with President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, teachers of section 22 of CNTE decided to radicalize their actions.
In the case of the airport, teachers crossed heavy vehicles and prevented access to the air terminal. Passengers have to walk up to three kilometers to board their flights or cross the Tequio sports park to enter the area.
Yenny Pérez, leader of the union, considered the responses given by the federal and state governments to their claims to be minimal and insufficient.
In addition, they demanded that the President definitively resolve the points that are stuck at the negotiating tables. She commented that the recess and lifting of the strike and sit-in in the Historic Center will depend on a decision by its bases, not by some of its leaders.
“If our bases consider that the responses given by the government are not sufficient, we will maintain the day of protests, with the broad support of our colleagues who determined the strategies to follow, so that the protests are more forceful and there is an immediate resolution to their demands on the part of the government.”
She pointed out that her movement is not guided by political determinations or electoral circumstances, warning that, whoever governs, the CNTE will not stop its mobilizations.
