In order to prevent flooding and ensure the well-being of Mazatlan residents, the municipal government is carrying out work to care for and maintain the Jabalines stream.

This is a preventive program for the rainy season, in which municipal personnel are dedicated to removing weeds and debris from the main bodies of water in the city, and for this the Public Works Department uses machinery.

It was officially announced that, in recent days, the work has focused on the area of the stream located between Rigodanza and Insurgentes avenues, an area that belongs to the Jacarandas subdivision, which is one of the most vulnerable during the rainy season.

Using a backhoe and a dump truck, municipal personnel remove the overgrown weeds and garbage of all kinds that could cause blockages and flooding in the settlements surrounding the Jabalines stream, as has already been recorded in previous years.

The statement highlights that these actions are part of the Mazatlan Government’s strategy for Civil Protection prior to the rains, to avoid risk situations due to flooding in the low-lying areas of the port.

To avoid overflows and thereby preserve the well-being of the residents, the municipal authorities call on citizens to avoid throwing any type of waste into bodies of water, because this, in addition to causing flooding, can also cause environmental damage that directly affects the people of Mazatlan.
