The Aquatic Police identified the person as José Nicolás “N”

On the 5 Norte beach in Mazatlán, Sinaloa, the rescue teams reported a young tourist who entered the sea, completely ignoring the recommendations to avoid entering the sea due to strong waves on the beach. He was pulled by a strong current and disappeared from the sight of a lifeguard who helped his companion get out.
The Aquatic Police of the port identified the tourist who disappeared at sea as José Nicolás “N”, 22 years old, originally from the state of Aguascalientes, who with a friend entered the beach and due to the force of the waves began to enter deeper areas of the sea, despite the warnings of the lifeguard.
What happened to the tourist who disappeared in Mazatlán?
A female lifeguard warned that she would enter the sea to force the two young men to get out, so she asked for help to achieve her goal, but she only managed to get one of them out as they were being dragged by the currents. The Aquatic Police, who arrived at North Beach 5 of the port, launched a search for the second national tourist, but he was not found at the site where he had been seen minutes before, so an intense search is being carried out.
This Monday, June 3, it was reported that the remains of a man were found on Avenida del Mar, the beach where José Nicolás was reported missing. The presence of paramedics was requested to assist the man, however, elements of Civil Protection indicated that he no longer had signs of life.
How do you know when it is safe to swim at the beach?
If you go to the beach, it is important to know the meaning of the colors of the flags that are installed, since they indicate whether the sea is in conditions for swimming and prevent accidents and drownings. Before entering the sea, check the signs placed on the coast.
The green or white flag indicates that both the weather and the waves are appropriate for tourists who want to enter the sea. While the yellow flag means that it is allowed to enter the water, but that caution must be taken and stay close to the shore, to avoid being dragged out to sea by the currents.
When the flag is red, it is prohibited to enter the sea, due to unfavorable conditions such as high waves, tropical or electrical storms, presence of jellyfish, sharks or polluting agents in the water.
The black flag indicates that it is not safe to enter the water or stay on the beach.
If the sign is black, it means that the beach is closed due to poor sea conditions, which represents a risk for visitors and swimming is not allowed. In these cases, it is essential to follow the instructions of lifeguards or authorities such as Civil Protection, the National Guard or the Navy.
It is important to avoid swimming under the influence of alcohol and not leave children alone to prevent accidents or drowning, without forgetting to check the flags. It is also recommended to identify the location of the nearest lifeguard station or medical care module to go to in case of an emergency.
