350 trees planted in Mazatlán garbage dump

With actions to benefit the planet, the City Council commemorated World Environment Day with a massive reforestation of the municipal dump.

According to a statement, more than 200 volunteers from the municipal government, companies and educational institutions such as: UPSIN, Maz Industrial, Walmart, Marketing Luna, and even residents of the Villa Unión community participated in this significant campaign led by the Department of Ecology and Environment, where 350 regional, amapa and venadillo trees were planted.

Mayor Edgar González, accompanied by his wife María Teresa Apodaca, planted the first trees, and highlighted the importance of this type of action in favor of the environment, and serving as an example to society.

He specified that Mazatlán is the first municipality in Sinaloa to properly close a municipal dump in accordance with the regulations, a work of great cost and responsibility, which is often not seen, but which has a great impact on the environment and the people of Mazatlán.

For her part, the Director of Ecology and Environment, Eunice Murúa, described this mega reforestation as historic, in which the government, companies, universities and society come together to restore a habitat that had been environmentally attacked for five decades.
