In May, the average hotel occupancy in Los Cabos was 65 percent, which represents a decrease of one percentage point compared to the same period of the previous year.
Lilzi Orcí Fregoso, president of the Los Cabos Hotel Association, told the media that this reduction is not only due to a decrease in the arrival of national tourists, but also to the wide offer of different types of accommodation, which distributes tourism more equitably.

“We closed May with 65 percent, which if we put it in context with last year when we closed at 66 percent, we are one point down. This has been the trend this year, we have been matching the occupancy that we had last year for some months and other months we are below one percentage point. It is something that we have already seen, it is a possible adjustment in the arrival of the distribution of both national and international tourists,” she explained.

Regarding the average rate, hoteliers reported that it remains at 494 dollars, which represents an increase of 20 dollars compared to 2023. This has contributed to businessmen, service providers and especially industry workers being able to obtain higher profits.
“In terms of the rate, we have an average rate of 494 dollars, which is what we have been managing. In the case of the rate, it is slightly higher compared to last year. It is 20 dollars higher than in 2023, this also helps the profits that are being generated in the destination,” he said.

The Hotel Association of the region expects occupancy to reach 70 percent during the summer, considering the increase in the flow of national visitors during this season.
