Following the investigation that the H. XVII City Council of La Paz started last year, due to complaints that local businessmen made regarding alleged illegal acts committed by former officials and public servants of the Directorate of Commerce; the mayor, Milena Quiroga Romero, spoke in favor of combating and inhibiting corruption in public management.
She maintained that she will be respectful of the process that the State Attorney General’s Office (PGJE) is carrying out for the alleged crime of bribery against two people who currently work in the municipal administration and one more who worked during the current administration.
“We made public this network that was found within the Municipal Government, I trust that the law will be implemented because we must inhibit these practices in public office. We will not allow these things to happen and it will be shown that there is no impunity, that as authorities we take care of a transparent management with fair treatment for all. It was regrettable what was found, an impressive number of fake licenses and surely this network had been operating for years,” he said.
Quiroga Romero regretted that the finances of the City Council were violated as well as the administrative processes that some people carried out to issue fake commercial operating licenses and permits for the sale of alcoholic beverages. Finally, he assured that with the implementation of digital procedures this issue has been regulated, guaranteeing the transparency of the administrative procedures.
