
With the countdown marking 15 days for the start of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, the celebration of the National Day of France in Mexico was held this Thursday, which was attended by Ana Gabriela Guevara Espinoza, general director of the National Commission for Physical Culture and Sport (CONADE), a ceremony that exalted the Franco-Mexican friendship under the sports theme.
The event, held at the Residence of France, honored 11 Mexican athletes who have been consecrated as Olympic and Paralympic medalists, where their career and achievements were exalted.
Ana Gabriela Guevara, Joaquín Rocha, Daniel Aceves, Jesús Mena, Carlos Mercenario, Bernardo Segura, Joel Sánchez, Tatiana Ortiz, Jesús Hernández, Fabiola Ramírez and Diego López, were the athletes who received recognition from the French ambassador to Mexico, Delphine Borione, accompanied by Alicia Bárcena, Secretary of Foreign Affairs.
“I feel very happy to share this day with the French community in Mexico, with the courtesy that the ambassador does us in making this recognition on the way to this great party, accompanying us in this celebration of the Olympic Games,” said Guevara Espinoza.
“Always remembering and doing everything that having the headquarters implies, in 200 years of diplomatic relations between Mexico and France, many pages have been written and we are about to culminate with a historic performance by returning to that city after a hundred years and celebrating this great link between Mexico and France,” she added.
For her part, the ambassador of France in Mexico, Delphine Borione, highlighted the close relationship between both countries that has benefited various social spheres.
“From the first day of my stay here in Mexico, I have been deeply impressed by the warmth of your welcome, the diversity and richness of your culture in all aspects such as the Indigenous Games. This human and cultural dimension fascinates my country and in this great country, France develops a large number of collaborations in all areas: cultural, economic, cooperation, among others,” she highlighted.
This celebration was also attended by the para swimmers Naomi Ortiz and Citli Salinas, Samuel Molina of para archery, the coach Sandra Loza, the para athlete Brenda Osnaya and the discipline’s coach, Jessica González, as well as Ángeles Gutiérrez and Miguel Nieto from para rowing, Alejandra Menzi, para rowing coach and Orlando Ibarra, para swimming coach.
The Paris 2024 Olympic Games will be held from July 26 to August 11, while the Paralympics will be held from August 28 to September 8.
