Los Cabos, Baja California Sur.- The General Directorate of Public Safety, Preventive Police and Municipal Traffic in Los Cabos, has launched the inter-institutional operation called “Motorcycles and vehicles without license plates, tinted windows and vehicle insurance.”
“With the objective of working in parallel with the agreement issued at the State Security Roundtable held on July 6, the General Directorate of Public Safety, Preventive Police and Municipal Traffic in Los Cabos has begun the inspection of motorcycle, scooter and ATV class vehicles to verify their current and corresponding documentation.”
“Sedan, station wagon and pick-up vehicles with tinted windows are also being inspected. In addition, it will be verified that all mobile units have a valid third-party insurance policy,” reported Frigate Captain Christopher Jordi López Monge.
In case of non-compliance, sanctions will be applied in accordance with the Traffic Regulations in force in the municipality of Los Cabos. Article 43 stipulates that the circulation of vehicles with windshields covered with any kind of tint, lenses or special tints that obstruct visibility inside the vehicle is prohibited. The luminosity of the vehicle must be at least 55%.
Finally, in accordance with the provisions of Article 23 of the Land Traffic Law, the front windshield of vehicles must remain free of any obstacle that hinders or impedes visibility to the outside or inside of the vehicle.
The removal of non-permitted tint on private vehicles and government officials, patrol cars and security vehicles circulating in Baja California Sur is part of the strategy that is being applied in the five municipalities with the purpose of inhibiting crimes and avoiding road accidents.
