The Tecate Municipal Government distanced itself from the official who was detained while attempting to enter the United States with nearly 70 kilograms of drugs; however, she continues to appear on the payroll of the Civic Justice Department.
Through a public statement, the government headed by Román Cota said that the actions of the inspector, identified as Nancy Beatriz Olazagasti Ortega, are unrelated to her duties at the Tecate City Council.
They also reported that Nancy Beatriz was dismissed on September 2, one week after she was arrested by border agents on August 26, according to data consulted by this news agency.
“The Government of Tecate is completely unrelated to the events and distances itself from any conduct that the former employee may have carried out in her personal capacity,” the municipal authority stated.
As of Tuesday afternoon, Olazagasti Ortega continued to appear on the payroll of the City Council Secretariat, published on the Transparency Portal, where she is listed under the Civic Justice Department, with a net monthly salary of 13,652 pesos.
