Residents of various towns in the municipality of Tecpan de Galeana have occupied the federal highway Acapulco-Zihuatanejo, near the Aguas Blancas neighborhood, in the municipality of Tecpan, in the Costa Grande region, since around 8:30 in the morning, to demand the support of the federal government, after the damages suffered due to the storm Max, which hit this municipality on October 9, two weeks before Hurricane Otis hit Acapulco and Coyuca de Benítez.

Once again, as on July 9, when they took over the highway for approximately 10 hours, the protesters complain that they have not been taken into account, and that the authorities have not kept their promises of help to overcome the damages that tropical storm Max left in their homes.

They recalled that the meteor caused severe flooding due to heavy rains in Tecpan, so that residents of various towns and colonies lost their homes, their belongings, or saw part of their property affected.

Among the affected communities are El Cuajilote, Apolonio Castillo, Tetitlán and El Carrizal.

The protesters ask that, like in Acapulco, the federal Welfare Secretariat apply aid programs for the residents of Tecpan de Galeana affected by this meteorological phenomenon.

They indicated that they have lists with more than 300 affected people.

The blockade affects motorists and vacationers traveling from Michoacán, Colima and Zihuatanejo towards the port of Acapulco; and from Acapulco to other municipalities on the Costa Grande, including Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo, because even though at certain times the protesters allow the passage of 10 vehicles in each direction, there is a bottleneck in the area that makes traffic very complicated.

Protesters warned that they would block the road again on this date if the authorities did not give them a response.
