After a half-year period in Nuevo León where tests and technical and operational training were applied, the DRT train was sent to Campeche as a new destination.
According to the Metrorrey communication team, the DRT that arrived in the state at the end of last year was used to evaluate its performance and the urban infrastructure to properly operate a vehicle of this type in the city.
On numerous occasions, this vehicle with a capacity of more than 300 passengers and autonomous operation was seen circulating on the Ecovía in the Lincoln – Mitras section as part of these tests.
According to Metrorrey, this DRT is a 2022 model, and more vehicles of this type will arrive in the state, acquired by the state with the necessary specifications derived from the experimental phase, and they will also be a 2025 model.
Its use is contemplated within line 5 of the metro that runs along Eugenio Garza Sada Avenue, although the works on this line have not started and remain on hold.
He also pointed out that CRRC, the company that owns the 2022 model vehicle, can use it for tests in other places, in this case Campeche, which recently began its work on a light rail line, whose system will be suitable for the DRT.
This vehicle is named after its initials, which mean Digital Rail Transit, and as the name indicates, it consists of a tram that, instead of following rails, makes its way along a double broken line painted on the street and with the particularity of not requiring a driver to get going.
Each of its cars can fit up to 100 passengers, and its flexibility can be adapted to attach two, three or four cars. In the tests carried out in Nuevo León, the circular train was seen with three cars.
