A group of businessmen and pro-canine groups announced the first Lomitos Fest, an event that will take place next Saturday, August 3rd at Playa 72 from 4 to 6 pm. The group, made up of Adriana Castañeda, Sergio Beristain, Alan Morales and Mariana Rubio, stressed that the event will not cost money, but donations are allowed, not only money but also in kind.
The funds raised by the animalovers will be for the veterinary treatment of dogs, as well as to feed them. The event will have a picnic, yoga for dogs and a demonstration of rescue dogs, in addition, there will be a catwalk of pets for adoption.
Currently there are 105 dogs available for adoption, but also in treatment for being in poor health when they were rescued. The organizers of this event stressed that there is a crisis of animal cruelty in Playa del Carmen and they also seek to raise awareness in society with this type of events that are born out of love for pets.
