Hotel occupancy in southern Tamaulipas registered a significant increase during the first days of summer vacation, which is demonstrated by attractions full of visitors.
Alberto Ortega, president of the Association of Hotels of Southern Tamaulipas, indicated that the average for the month until July 24 was 59%, a positive occupancy.
However, during “the 2 weeks of vacation that have passed so far, there is 64% occupancy” and it is expected to increase during the next few days.
The businessman indicated that they estimate that there may be an increase during the weekend and as the vacation period progresses, since the tourist attractions of Tampico and Madero are full.
An example is the tourist bus, which has its base in front of the Sevilla Hotel, in the Historic Center of Tampico, exactly in front of the Plaza de la Libertad. There was a line of tourists waiting for the tourist bus, most of them from Nuevo León, Mexico City, San Luis Potosí, as well as from Victoria, San Luis Potosí and other municipalities in the state.
The hotel sector has high expectations regarding the arrival of visitors, after the limitations due to the health crisis ended, so it is a general relief for various sectors.
Recently, seafood is the dish that most attracts tourists from Nuevo León and Mexico City who have come to Tampico, which has already contributed to an increase in sales of 30% and 40% in food businesses.
Abel López Pacheco, a merchant at the Tampico market, said that since the weekend, the most marked increase in food consumption has been noticed and the largest number of customers are tourists.
Tourists visiting the port are mostly looking for seafood, but also dishes such as torta de la barda and carne asada a la tampiqueña, which can be found in the market.
Visitors have the opportunity to eat their food in the market, in fast food restaurants and in more traditional businesses, with dishes from the Huasteca region such as enchiladas.
Miramar Cleanup
Companies and associations are joining together to remove the excess piles that have arrived at Miramar Beach in Ciudad Madero this summer under the slogan “it’s not my trash but it’s my planet.”
As large quantities of material derived from the runoff from the Pánuco River have arrived in recent days, the Stanhome company carried out this mobilization in conjunction with the Pathfinder Foundation.
They assure that with these actions, the mortality of Lora turtles that has been recorded every year can also be prevented, since it has been proven that many times it is because they ingest some plastic or some other waste.
Most of the participants in this mega event were women, using shovels, rakes and wheelbarrows. They commented that this is a national mobilization, with Tamaulipas being region 1.
It was announced that through a permanent campaign at a global level, companies can carry out activities in favor of the environment, as well as families from their homes.
Jorge Luis Moctezuma, president of the Pathfinder Association, said that in this case it is mainly women who carry out this activity through daily life and a permanent example.
