Finca Serrano, a restaurant with history

With the goal of bringing Sánchez Román’s Tlaltenango seasonings to the Zacatecan capital and to tourists, Finca Serrano was born, a restaurant where you can taste typical dishes from the region but with a touch of originality.

When you arrive at the historic building, which dates back to the 18th century, and go up the stairs, you are transported to the colonial era among works of art.

The smell of the stews guides you to the wooden tables and chairs, covered by white tablecloths.

In addition, the reddish lighting of two hanging chandeliers highlights the elegance and mystery of the establishment.

Luis Cortés, owner of the restaurant, explained that he inherited his taste for cooking from his grandmother and mother, which is why he decided to start the project to share different typical delicacies from Tlaltenango and Jerez de García Salinas.

He explained that the specialty of the house is breakfast, especially chilaquiles in its different presentations.

He highlighted that the star dish is the Chilaquiles Serrano, a combination of five sauces accompanied by cheese and arrachera, in addition to its cheese and cream, depending on the diners’ palate.

Also, the cochinita, which are bathed in guajillo chili sauce with their respective pork meat.

It is worth mentioning that these are only some presentations of the chilaquiles, since there is a great variety of this dish.

Luis recommended to our readers the Enchiladas Tlaltenango, which are made of tortillas filled with beef and bathed in peanut sauce, in addition to a touch of secret spices, which remind him of his childhood.

He said that the name of the restaurant is in honor of his family, although he did not go into further details.

Regarding the building that houses Finca Serrano, he said that he decided to keep it as is, to preserve its history, since it was a hotel and a grocery store.

The establishment has a privileged location, as it is located on Juárez Avenue, in the Historic Center of the capital.

In addition, it has tables overlooking the Trinidad García de la Cadena avenue, an emblematic space in the Zacatecas capital.
