This afternoon, at 12:40 p.m., the seismic alert was activated by mistake in the states of Puebla, Mexico City, Guerrero, Morelia and Colima.
It was the Mexican Seismic Alert System (SASMEX) itself that gave notice of a probable earthquake.
The data from this institution indicated that the epicenter would have been recorded on the border of Puebla with Guerrero, southwest of the municipality of Chiautla.
Despite this, the governor of the state, Sergio Salomón Céspedes Peregrina confirmed that there is no damage in said municipality.
Therefore, he called to wait for the official information from the National Seismological Institute.
The seismic alert was activated in shopping malls, public buildings, schools and theaters in the city of Puebla.
For its part, the SkyAlert application said that the seismogram did not record an earthquake in the last 24 hours that is related to any type of alert.
SASMEX itself later stated that the activation of the alert was a mistake.
It explained that due to the preparations for the drill on September 19, the alert signal was activated by mistake.
Likewise, the director of Municipal Civil Protection of Puebla, Gilberto González Labastida, stated that it was not an earthquake.
