Mario Moreno Cantinflas lives on not only because of his legacy in the seventh art, with films like El barrendero, Ahí está el detalle, El padrecito and El Patrullero 777, but also because of the famous properties he owned and that can now be visited and even stayed in, since it went from being his largest and most famous vacation home to being one of the most talked about hotels in San Miguel Allende, Guanajuato.

What was once a farm and one of his largest properties in terms of land and construction, is now called Hotel Misión and belongs to a large hotel chain. The details and essence of the Mexican comedian are impregnated even in the large pool that is on the site.

On the property, he built a pool in the shape of a whistle in the heart of the property, supposedly as a tribute to his role in the film El Patrullero 777, where he plays a Mexico City police officer. However, that’s not all, as the estate was also visited by other legends of the Golden Age of Cinema such as Pedro Infante, Jorge Negrete, María Félix, Pedro Vergas and María Sorté.

The hotel, which pays tribute to the iconic Mexican actor who died on April 20, 1993, stands out for its rich historical and cultural content related to Cantinflas. Next to the reception area, visitors find a museum-like area dedicated to the comedian’s memory, where newspapers, photographs and paintings capturing moments of his life and career are displayed. In addition, a statue was unveiled in its gardens on June 9, 2012 as a tribute to his legacy.
