Five People Linked to Trial for Student Kidnapping in Cancún

For the crime of aggravated kidnapping against a teenager who was deprived of his liberty outside an educational institution located on Fonatur Avenue, the State Attorney General’s Office obtained the linkage to the trial of five people: two arrested in this municipality and three who had fled to Mérida.

The accused are Edson de Jesús “N” and Adriana “N”, arrested in Benito Juárez, as well as José Armando “N”, Erik Fernando “N”, and Hernando José “N” captured in Mérida, who were placed under preventive detention for a period of two years or until the trial concludes.

On the morning of July 24, the teenager was kidnapped by three individuals outside a school while he was waiting in his car for the school to open.

He was then taken in his own vehicle to an apartment in the Villas Otoch Paraíso subdivision, Region 259, where a video was recorded to send to the victim’s parents, demanding 3 million pesos for his release.

On the same day of the kidnapping, the student was rescued safe and sound, and three people, Edson de Jesús “N”, Adriana “N”, and a minor, were arrested.

José Armando “N”, Erik Fernando “N”, and Hernando José “N” fled to Mérida in the victim’s vehicle, and once arrested, they were transferred to Cancún where a Control Judge linked them to the trial along with the two previously mentioned individuals.
