Plantean 4 obras de infraestructura carretera prioritarias para Durango

The construction sector submitted a booklet of works proposed by the Mexican Chamber of the Construction Industry (CMIC) to the Federal Government, which includes four priority works for Durango.

The local president of the Mexican Chamber of the Construction Industry (CMIC), Francisco Salazar Mendía, reported that four road infrastructure works were included for Durango: the expansion of the Durango-Parral, the modernization of the Canatlán to Santiago Papasquiaro highway, a section from Cuencamé to Zacatecas and a fourth one from Altares to Otáez.

He explained that, in addition to the Tunal II dam, businessmen in the sector consider these works very necessary, so they think it is a priority to include them in the national road infrastructure plan.

Questioned about the estimated amounts of said works, he said that, in the case of the expansion of the Durango-Parral, the amount required is three thousand 500 million pesos.

Likewise, 1,660 million pesos are required for the modernization of the highway from Canatlán to Santiago Papasquiaro, while a total of 3,045 million pesos is estimated for the Cuencamé-Zacatecas highway section.

That is, it would be more than eight thousand million pesos for these projects, which are the most urgent.

However, he emphasized that the CMIC will continue to fight for the consolidation of the Tunal II dam, which is essential to guarantee the proper functionality of the water treatment plant that is expected to be delivered this year in the state capital.

It is expected that the works can be developed by local builders, for which there has already been an approach with the head of the Secretariat of Infrastructure, Communications and Transportation (SICT).

He explained that, given the poor condition of the country’s roads, and particularly in Durango where up to 90 percent require intervention, a system is being analyzed that was applied in Chihuahua where 1,500 kilometers were assigned to a company that subcontracted local companies and even invited construction companies from Durango.

However, this scheme is through loans and it is a company with great financial solvency.
