To protest the intention of the government of the Republic (@GobiernoMX ) to create a new protected natural area with more than 2,800 hectares, in a community assembly, residents of Bajos de Coyula agreed to block tomorrow Friday the access to the Bahías de Huatulco International Airport and the coastal highway.

Starting in the early hours of Friday, residents will set up the blockade on federal highway 200 and the access to the International Airport to reiterate their disagreement with the intention of the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources (@SEMARNAT_mx ) to declare Bajos de Coyula II, a surface area of more than 2,800 hectares, a protected natural area with the character of a flora and fauna protection area.

Four days ago, SEMARNAT published the study carried out by the National Commission of Protected Natural Areas (@CONANP_mx ); However, residents of Bajos de Coyula are unhappy because the official study did not take into account that within the designated polygon there are areas inhabited by residents of the community and other settlements such as Unión 1, Unión 2 and Zapote.

SEMARNAT set a deadline of 30 calendar days for the documents of the study carried out by @CONANP_mx to be reviewed by the interested parties so that they can challenge the project, if that were the case.
