The federal tourism secretary, Miguel Torruco Marqués, and Governor Manolo Jiménez, unveiled the plaque with the appointment of the Ojo de Agua neighborhood as the first magical neighborhood of Saltillo, in a ceremony where it was announced that this and the eight magical towns of Coahuila will enter the Magical Color Routes program.
The state official affirmed that with this program, the historical and cultural identity of these spaces is sought to be preserved, always seeking harmony, and with the approval of municipal and state authorities.
“In the case of Múzquiz, it is necessary to mention that in 2022, it was intervened with magical color routes, painting 140 facades of houses, unfortunately the flood began to slow down this type of progress, and here I want to give you some good news, the governor and I have agreed to announce the painting of the eight magical towns and the magical neighborhood, for each town and for the neighborhood, there are 140 facades in this first stage,” said Miguel Torruco.
The federal tourism secretary accompanied the governor in the unveiling of the plaque naming the Ojo de Agua neighborhood as the first magical neighborhood in Coahuila, and in the delivery of patrol cars for the Ángeles Verdes corporation, which provides roadside assistance to motorists on highways throughout the country.
Miguel Torruco Marqués stated that within the transition work with the next federal administration, the importance of giving continuity to several projects in Coahuila has been emphasized, among which he highlighted the start of the artistic mural program in the magical towns.
“It will be pending for the next administration, the start of the mural program in the eight magical towns and in the magical neighborhood, we must remember that we were affected by the pandemic, and that they were difficult years,” said the federal tourism secretary.
For his part, Governor Manolo Jiménez stated that the collaboration between the state government and the federation will allow for the continued promotion of tourism in Coahuila by improving the image of the magical towns.
“This program that we announced in a couple of steps will help a lot for these magical towns of Coahuila. You say when we start, if you already have the paint, then send it and then we will send you the money to move forward,” stated the state governor.
The Magical Neighborhoods program arises as an alternative from the federal government to allow cities that were left out of the Magical Towns program to have these names from those communities that maintain local traditions.
