The state governor, Manolo Jiménez, stated that during the meeting he held with the president-elect, Claudia Sheinbaum, she confirmed to him that Coahuila will be part of the route of the railway project announced for the next federal administration.
He indicated that the southeastern region will have a station within this project, which will serve to make the possibility of having a train that connects the metropolitan areas of Saltillo and Monterrey a reality in the future.
Manolo Jiménez assured that the project to have a train that connects Saltillo and Monterrey requires an investment of just over 30 billion pesos, however, having the stations could help this possibility to advance.
“Samuel was there with me, and we told him that this would be a train for the most important economic corridor in this country, because between Coahuila and Nuevo León we produce almost 30 percent of the vehicles in Mexico, Coahuila is number one, and Nuevo León is number three or four, and he said, the station in Saltillo and Ramos is going, that one is going,” said the governor of the state.
Manolo Jiménez, assured that the meeting that the governors of the northeast and center of the country had this week with the president-elect, Claudia Sheinbaum, was a meeting where there was an openness to listen to the leaders and their priority proposals.
They also touched on other issues
The governor of the state, highlighted that in addition to the issue of the train station for Saltillo, he proposed several projects on drinking water supply, road infrastructure, health, and security.
“In the case of water, we have what is being carried out as the main pipeline of the healthy water project to the lagoon, to Matamoros and to Viesca, which is not in the 2024 budget, we have to carry this trunk line, and then I commented to the president, and many agreed at the meeting table, where I told them that the second stage of this project is the modernization of the drinking water network of the municipalities, because the great problem of water supply in this country has to do with water leakage,” said Manolo Jiménez.
He added that in the matter of road infrastructure, the need to invest in the expansion of highway 57 was raised, and in improvements for the section of Los Chorros, where he said, there is a social problem and the economic losses generated by accidents.
On the topic of education, Manolo Jiménez indicated that the need to modernize schools in the state was expressed, where he said there is a backlog of 4 billion pesos in the rehabilitation of educational spaces.
The president added that in addition to the meeting with Claudia Sheinbaum, he has had several virtual meetings with those who will be in the cabinet of the next federal administration, with whom he has discussed some aspects of the proposals presented as priorities in the state.
“In the coming weeks we will be traveling to Mexico City frequently, to have these meetings and to shape the projects, programs and important works for Coahuila, where without a doubt these can advance in a better way by working as a team, municipalities, state and federation, something that has not been seen for a long time,” said the state governor.
Manolo Jiménez said that work is being done quickly on the preparation of the projects, so that they can be presented as soon as possible, seeking to be considered when preparing the budget for the following year.
